Waterperry House, with its beautiful Georgian frontage, is set in the 30-acre Waterperry Estate, Oxfordshire, which is home to the beautifully landscaped Waterperry Gardens made famous by Beatrix Havergal and her Horticultural School for Ladies from 1932-1971.

It has been used as a retreat centre for The School of Philosophy and Economic Science for the last 25 years.

There is accommodation for 65 people in the Georgian house and modern wing with access to Waterperry Gardens as part of a hire. Waterperry House is a vegetarian self-catered venue with a beautiful organic walled vegetable garden.

Yoga Spaces

Our largest space for group yoga sessions is the light and spacious ballroom which is located on the first floor with views over the lawns and surrounding countryside. We also have many other fabulous locations for meditation and reflection.

A hire would include exclusive use of the front lawn of the house for fair weather yoga and meditation sessions. Within the formal gardens there is a silent space garden and a Riverside walk with a Truth Trail.

Accommodation options and bathrooms

Accommodation is in single, twin, and dormitory style rooms

Our newly converted (spring 2024) top floor accommodation has 18 rooms in either twin or 3 person dorms, 5 of which can be made into doubles. Most rooms are en-suite.

The modern wing has 15 rooms – 8 singles, 2 twin and 6 dorms with 3/4 beds. All are shared bathrooms except one.

The house has a dining room for 50 and a connecting room for a further 20 people. The hall or artists hall can also be used for dining. We are a vegetarian venue and have a wonderful catering kitchen and scullery that outside professional caterers love.

Booking terms / pricing

Whole house hire – minimum 20 people or £1500 per night. Prices based on £75pppn but depend on weekend/weekday, high/low season etc.

Location and how to get there

Waterperry House is located 7.5 miles from Oxford city centre; 50 miles from London and 62 miles from Birmingham. From the east take M40 junction 8 and from the north junction 8a.

We are 2.5 miles from the A40: turn off at Wheatley and follow brown signposts with the Tourist Board ‘rose’ symbol to Waterperry Gardens. If using Satnav to find us, we recommend entering postcode OX33 1LA which will bring you to Waterperry.

Drive to the end of the village through the entrance to Waterperry House and Gardens.
