Under the Linden Tree, a serene retreat nestled on the picturesque unspoiled Cycladic Island of Tinos, in Greece. Situated in an enchanting valley in the heart of the island.

Under the Linden Tree offers a unique sanctuary where guests can connect with the rich history of Tinos while experiencing the true essence of living in a restored centuries old Farmhouse, that has been respectfully transformed into 5 independent, unique cottages.

Enjoy the views, scents and sounds of what we like to think of as our little paradise, a green wilderness with a distinct Tinian and Cycladic style.

Tinos is a captivating Greek Cycladic Island in the heart of the Aegean Sea. It boasts 40 picturesque, charming white villages, over 900 churches and monasteries, traditional dovecotes, and scenic sandy and pebble beaches with azure crystal-clear waters.

Despite being relatively undiscovered by foreign tourists, it holds immense significance for Greek pilgrims. Aside from being a religious haven, Tinos is also a hub of art, nurturing the birthplace of renowned Greek artists and sculptors.

Its unspoiled architecture, picturesque villages, beautiful beaches, and rich cultural traditions make Tinos an ideal destination for nature, architecture, art, and tradition enthusiasts.

Renowned for its exceptional quality, the island’s cuisine is characterized by fresh, organic ingredients sourced from its fertile land and surrounding seas.

Tinos is particularly famous for its delectable cheeses, including the flavorful Tinos graviera. Seafood enthusiasts can relish in the catch of the day, while the island’s thyme honey, and unique spirits add distinctive notes to its culinary offerings.

Under the Linden Tree stands gracefully on the island, paying homage to the centuries-old Linden Tree that lives in the center of the valley.

Under the Linden Tree is committed to a light carbon footprint through organic farming, solar energy utilization, and responsible water management. Guests can enjoy COCO-MAT mattresses crafted from natural materials, organic and locally produced soaps, daily harvest from the local produce of the organic orchard within the farm, and a range of Greek Organic toiletries that align with the retreat’s commitment to sustainability.

The retreats held here are thoughtfully designed to provide a restorative and immersive experience. The centuries-old Linden Tree, standing as the retreat’s axis mundi, invites guests to connect with the island’s history and experience the present serenity.

Gentle Spring Cleansing Retreat

Spring is nature’s birthing season – a time of creation and development. All is restored with life at the beginning of spring. It is a time for new growth in our lives, relationships and work – together with nature we flourish in this season.

A transition time from the inward-looking cold winter days to those of the active spring- summer season. An opportunity to invigorate the mind and the body and to boost our resilience with the support of our team at Under the Linden Tree organic farm.

This retreat is helpful for all of us needing to reset our inner compass. Detox and cleanse the body from the short and long-term toxic waste built up from our high paced lives; from the noisy hustle and bustle of every day, from the frequent use of internet technology and various nutritional substances such as gluten, dairy, sugar, tobacco and alcohol.

The ‘Gentle Cleanse Retreat’ is medically supported with a questionnaire to be filled out by each participant prior to registration. Each individual’s information will be accessed by a medical doctor and taken into consideration regarding the nutritional program.

There is only room for 8 participants in order to give each one the most important self- healing aid; quiet alone time with ourselves in nature.

Our balanced diet consisting of organic high quality ingredients, herbs and juices will help extract accumulated waste and feed the body with vital nutrients. Where possible food produce will be locally sourced.

Yoga, Qi-Gong and Sound therapy on our outdoor yoga deck under the linden tree will further stimulate detoxification. Our yurt is available for opt-in one-on-one sessions and therapies.

Retreat Schedule

Day 1: Let’s get to know each other. Introductions, Readings & Preparation

Informal gathering together to meet and greet
A pleasant introductory walk around Under the Linden Tree to familiarise all with the various spaces.
Scheduling of individual Aura and Energy readings and individual treatments (massage, energy readings etc.)
Light vegan meals for lunch & dinner in preparation for the detox days.

Day 2-6: Detox days

Rise and Shine with recommended detox routines in the comfort of your rooms
Our days together will start at 8.00 with Qi Gong under the linden tree
Presentations on physical and emotional clearing and cleansing
Juices, Herbal Detox teas, Broths and one light solid meal
A delicious vegan lunch prepared with local fresh products.
The afternoons are yours for relaxation – small walks, reading, reflection, therapies etc.
Yoga Nidra at 18:00

Enjoy plenty of free time Under the Linden Tree, walking though the vineyards, the olive and orange groves, pausing by the ponds or just sitting quietly beside the mighty Linden tree to find much needed tranquility and support from nature.

Gift yourself the opportunity to connect to self and to nature, to detox, purify and leave lighter, brighter and more in tune with the world around you.

You will get to enjoy some of these treatments as part of the retreat but you can also choose to have one-on-one sessions. Aromatherapy, Energy Balancing, Massage, Sound therapy, Yoga, Qi Gong. Sessions can be booked in advance or at the meeting on the first day.

Accommodation

The property features an orange and olive grove, a flourishing vineyard, artichoke patches, vegetable gardens, fruit trees, lily ponds, and freshwater springs, along with 5 dreamy cottages: The Orange Grove, the Olive Grove, the Morning Glory, the Oak, and the Rock cottage.

Named after surrounding trees and flowers, the cottages are converted farmhouses and stables offering modern comforts, traditionally restored architecture, and island charm.

Under the Linden Tree is a sustainable ecological retreat and a vineyard nestled in the heart of the island, far from the crowd and fifteen minutes from the port.

Accommodation will be single or double rooms in cottages spread within the vineyards, orange & olive groves. All with sweeping views up to the granite hill of Exomvourgo. The cottages (Olive, Oak, Orange & Morning Glory ) are designed to provide modern comforts and privacy with separate entrances and outdoor spaces.

The cottages rely on solar panels for electricity and hot water.

Morning Glory Cottage

Pass through the gate, over the wooden bridge and under the blossoming archway and you have arrived at Morning Glory cottage.

A well-spaced, open-planned and fully-equipped kitchen and dining area. Two bedrooms with their own private entrances. A comfortable outdoor entertainment area with an outdoor shower and shaded lily pond.

Access to an outdoor Yoga Deck a short walk away– along the olive grove road, via the Dovecot across a wooden footbridge, through the gate under the shade of the Linden Tree.

Oak Cottage

Winding through the old olive grove, you reach the Oak & Olive Grove cottage, an old stone farm house now beautifully renovated.

Oak is a a self-contained studio above Olive, with a king-size bed and sofa bed that can accommodate up to 3 people. Wooden shuttered doors open up to a patio shaded by an old oak tree with a lovely view of the hill of Exombourgo and the villages of Xinara and Loutra. Just below is a pigeon house, one of the most characteristic features of Tinos architecture.

Olive Grove Cottage

Olive and Oak share the space of this beautifully renovated stone house, situated in the middle of an ancient organic Olive Grove. Olive, on the ground floor consists of 2 fully self contained units, making it perfect for friends and families who wish to share their holiday experience but also enjoy some privacy.

Both units have ensuite bathrooms and kitchens. Unit 1 has a king-sized bed that can be split into 2 singles. Unit 2 has a double bed. Private patios offer lovely views of Exombourgo hill and the beautiful village of Xinara.

Rock Cottage

Rock Cottage, a beautifully renovated stable built within a massive rock that forms part of the bedroom and bathroom walls. The bedroom has a comfortable double bed that leads out to a patio with a seated area alongside the granite rock with views of terraces.

The living room has a sofa bed and a cosy wood burning stove for winter warmth. There’s is a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. The front patio looks out onto the imposing granite hill of Exombourgo All around are fig trees and old vines from from which we make our barrelled wine and raki.
