As the former home of a family who once played a significant part in the artistic community of the Left Bank, the Hotel Monge, in the heart of the 5th arrondissement of Paris, has always been an address of prestige and significance in the Latin Quarter. This charming 4-star hotel reopened in 2016 following a complete renovation. The new décor of the establishment and its 30 bedrooms is largely inspired by the district in which it stands ; a district that evolved in close harmony with the world of books.

So, naturally, the design of the décor offers numerous nods to the literary Paris of Saint-Germain-des-Prés and the neighbouring University of Paris, known as the Sorbonne, as well as lithographs and souvenirs of journeys emblazoned with poetry and honouring the flora and fauna of the nearby Jardin des Plantes.

The interior design, created by Marie-Agnès Louboutin and Patrice Henry, has been modernised while still preserving the considerable charm of the bourgeois houses of the 19th century. Here you will find interlocking salons, mouldings, Hungarian point parquet flooring, fireplaces of Carrara marble, exquisite furniture and tropical themed wallpapers from the Maison Deyrolle.

SUPERIOR DOUBLE ROOM: 1 to 2 people – 16m²

DELUXE DOUBLE ROOM: 1 to 2 people – 18m²
A little more spacious and bright, the Deluxe Double rooms all offer a pretty and typically Parisian view of the Rue Monge. You will certainly appreciate their modern comfort and high-end amenities. The decoration is refined and very Parisian, with velvet fabrics, tropical themed wallpapers and soft fibre optic lighting.

DELUXE TRIPLE ROOM: 1 to 3 people – 20m²
The Deluxe Triple rooms are furnished with a large double bed and a chaise longue. A little more spacious and bright, they offer a pretty and typically Parisian view of the Rue Monge. You will certainly appreciate their modern comfort and high-end amenities. The decoration is refined and very Parisian, with velvet fabrics, ‘perroquets’ (parrots) wallpaper created by the Maison Deyrolle and soft fibre optic lighting.

I quickly heard that Hotel Monge is one of the most popular places in the area, so it claimed the top spot in my itinerary. Hotel Monge is a boutique hotel that recently reopened after a complete renovation in 2016, and wow does it look impressive! Since I was residing there in December, the entire place was elaborately decorated with the joyful spirit of Christmas. It also has a distinctly feminine style, with floral arrangements adorning the lobby and rooms, and prestigious designs surrounding you from your first step through their front doors.

I enjoyed climbing the charming spiral staircase to the upper floors, admiring the fresh decor along the way. I can certainly imagine Hotel Monge is a popular choice of accommodation for honeymoon couples, because there’s definitely an air of romance about the place!. My room was cozy, clean and comfortable – with the tropical themed wallpaper giving the spacious retreats a bright and vibrant feel.

I adored the butterfly designs above the bed – so intricately designed and precisely placed. Starting each day with a smile was easy with such happy designs. Along the headboard was also a collection of different books, paying homage to the literary and scholarly traditions of the area. The view from my room was amazing! I could see right down the street all the way to the horizon, dotted with emblematic monuments and attractions. Hotel Monge provides top-of-the-range service, with the lovely staff members attending to my every need. You can tell they go the extra mile to make your stay one to remember.

In particular, the steam sauna room and spa facilities were truly heavenly! The shower walls looked like the stars were embedded in them, and the entire area was private and secluded. What better way to relax the mind and muscles – I frequented the hammam regularly to wind down after busy days exploring and adventuring through the Latin Quarter and surrounding areas of Paris. I highly recommend to visit this beautiful hotel!.”
