This holistic wellbeing retreat in Mljet Island will nourish, nurture and inspire your body, mind and spirit. It will create a platform on which you will be able to build on once when your return home, so that you can continue implementing positive changes and create a balanced and healthy lifestyle in your daily life.
You will experience the joy of a yoga practice combined with meditation and breathing exercises. The healthy cooking classes are led by a macrobiotic chef whose love and knowledge of nutritional, healthy, organic food is truly exceptional.
You will also join hiking trips with stunning views of the island, the unspoiled and serene environment of the national park, and be surrounded by an abundance of thick green lushes forest of pine trees, enchanting turquoise salty lakes, crystal clear blue seas and breathtaking nature.
The schedule is designed in a way that every day is a new experience. In the evening tea time, you can discuss and reflect on the experiences you’ve had throughout the day. A great way to relax, meet new people and just have a joyful, restorative and rejuvenating holiday.
You will discover all the joys of the Mediterranean and have a lot of fun in the process! The extensive local knowledge of the retreat team ensures that you will enjoy the most authentic sights, flavours and experiences of Croatia.
We will accommodate a small number of participants during this retreat, in order for us to be able to serve you in the best possible way; with love, care and with personal attention that You deserve.
Each evening, your next day schedule with activities, tours, and excursions will be brought to your room or will be given to you during tea time. You can just relax and Joy of the Mediterranean will take care of everything for you.
There are two “free days” during this retreat – days without planned activities ( yoga classes still take place on these two days). During “free days”, you can choose to rent a kayak and explore the lakes, or rent a mountain bike and explore national park on wheels.
Accommodation
The retreat will take place in an old stone village right above the lakes and the national park. Each participant will have its own beautiful apartment or its own cottage house – all the accommodation is in the stone houses which were charmingly restored and designed to be very comfortable.
They all have heating, air-conditioning, as well as free Wi-Fi. All the accommodation is placed 10 to 50 meters away from the main house where yoga, meals, and cooking workshops will take the place.
Teacher & Retreat Host
Mojca Bajt is an experienced and passionate yoga teacher. She has a unique ability to naturally inspire a deeper understanding of the flow of breath, movement, and mindful connections in yoga. In her classes, she teaches her students to be in the present moment, to explore themselves, and to empower themselves.
She challenges you to increase your physical flexibility and strength, in order to transform them into inner strength, balance, harmony, and joy. Her yoga and meditation classes are suitable for everyone, from beginner to experienced yogi.
Yoga classes
You will able to attend two Yoga classes daily. The morning session will be an energizing, dynamic practice of one hour and 30 minutes for a wonderful start of the day. The morning practice will include Surya Namaskar – sun salutations.
The one-hour evening yoga session is designed with a more restorative, calmer approach to end and reflect on your day. This session may include pranayama, restorative yoga, Yin yoga, and Yoga Nidra.
The available yoga and meditation classes are suitable for everyone, from beginners to experienced yogis.
Cooking classes
Our chef was asked over and over again during the retreats if he would be willing to show participants how they can prepare themselves some of the delicious and nutritious healthy foods that he is making. Therefore we have decided to include cooking classes into this retreat.
You will learn how to make few simple foods from the scratch such as healthy organic flatbreads, gluten-free bread, healthy nutritious raw breakfast, raw cake, healthy spreads, fermented foods, and healthy ice creams.
Afterwards, you will be able to make all of this foods at home, so that you can continue the healthy eating after you return home.
You will learn about the nutritional value of foods, and how to implement the use of herbs in your cooking, so that it can help you to support your wellbeing and health long after you have returned home. There will be a fun class on how to make a traditional healthy local pasta from scratch, led by a local woman.
Cuisine
You will be enjoying three meals every day. Each meal consists of healthy, seasonal, organic, vegetarian, vegan or raw food along with freshly prepared homemade raw snack delights, detox juices and evening herbal tea. The experienced chef has a true love and deep knowledge of healthy food.
He is exceptional and always loves to share his knowledge with the participants. He will concentrate on the nutritional, healthy value of the locally grown, fresh Mediterranean food and will be spoiling you with delicious, nutritious meals with a Mediterranean touch.
Please note that during this retreat, there will be no sugar used in foods, as well as no meat or alcohol. Fruit and vegetables served during your stay will be locally-grown, seasonal, organic foods from small local ecological farms and gardens, which will be combined with freshly picked Mediterranean herbs.
Additionally, since the retreat location is on the Mediterranean coast, fish can be occasionally served upon request or during the culinary tour. Bread will be homemade, using ecological flour, and the cheese will be supplied by local goat farmers. The cold pressed extra virgin ecological olive oil from Korcula Island will be used as well to supplement the meals.
One of the hikes will be followed by fresh fish or veggies lunch, from the garden to table, at the small local taverna next to the lake, run by the local fishermen and his wife. You will not only enjoy great food but will also take in the amazing surroundings with your table perched next to the lake.
