About The Retreat
This Rested Mama retreat at Hollwell Holistic Retreat Centre has been curated for Mum’s by a Mum. By a woman who thinks Mum’s are amazing and knows first hand how supportive yoga and meditation is for daily parental life so can’t wait to share these practices to support you.
To incredible caregivers of young children, this retreat is for you. Fulfilling the role of Mother is amazing and challenging in equal measure. Time, space and energy to consistently look after our wellbeing is often lacking. It is so easy to lose our sense of Self in this 24hr role.
You might have a baby who no longer needs Mama for feeds, a toddler, or primary aged children. You give so much to others, so would love time to honour yourself and all this love that you share.
This is time for you to share the love inwards. Space and time to nurture your physical, mental and emotional self, to reflect and recharge within a beautiful holistic retreat centre in Devon.
Delving into morning and evening nurturing, mindful and bodyful yoga and meditation practices, let’s move and pause, rest and release, journal and sit, listening to feelings and whisperings of the heart that might not always have the chance to be heard.
Let’s come together and create community within a small group of amazing Mama’s. Chat, laugh and listen, connect and take time alone to stroll and ponder – or even take an uninterrupted nap. Bliss.
With plenty of free time to carve as you wish, stroll the 5 acres of land, nap, read, sip tea, chat, and enjoy a wonderful one hour holistic or deep tissue massage with Imogen (if this is within your booking option – see below). The North Devon coast is also a short drive away.
After dinner, the Sauna Garden awaits, complete with a woodfired sauna plus outdoor ‘plunge’ shower and hot showers to enjoy. Fires, indoor or out, weather allowing, will keep us cosy under the dark starry skies.
Yoga & Meditation
Practice with Carolyn as an opportunity to explore your yoga, through restorative and intuitive movement and stillness. Modern life can feel fast, we all carry so much, so let’s practice letting go of some of the stress and tension, moving with awareness, softening our edges and discovering all the spaciousness and truth that the present moment already holds – when we take the time to notice.
Meet yourself just as you are in the moment, lean into what you feel (and yup, sleep deprived, knackered, and achy is all welcome) and practice working compassionately with that, with all soft strength you already hold, in heart, mind and body.
Inspired by wisdom from ancient yogi’s and modern science, Carolyn weaves themes within flows, mindful pauses and Yoga Nidra (such a rejuvenating meditation) holding space for you to feel into your own experience in your body.
If you need Child’s Pose for an hour, take that. If your body needs to move a little faster, to shake it out and process, go with that. Noticing how we feel, and responding to that is such a strength for daily life.
Saturday and Sunday morning Yoga and meditation will be slow, gently dynamic and energising, as we explore ideas of rest.
What does it mean to feel rested? Life never stops, especially as a Mother of young ones, so lets practice ‘resting as we go’, in movement, in breath and in stillness, with compassion and care.
Daytime workshops on Saturday and Sunday will include creative journaling and Yoga Nidra, the latter being a beautiful meditation practice thought to be four times as restorative as sleep.
Friday and Saturday evening yoga, just before dinner, will be candlelit, nourishing and restorative, leaning into ourselves, and props, for supportive deep rest and loving care.
Cuisine
We will be looked after with Autumnal, nourishing vegetarian (vegan and all dietary requests catered for) delights. All produce is organic, home grown or locally sourced so we can rest well knowing we are looking after the planet too.

Being surrounded by like minded people and experiencing such caring practices felt really supportive and left me feeling inspired and refreshed.
