This year’s International Women’s Day theme is #ChooseToChallenge, and throughout this two hour workshop we’ll be tuning inwards and exploring how we can choose to challenge and stand up for equality. Change starts from within!
The workshop will be guided by Movement for Modern Life yoga teachers Gabriella Espinosa and Yvonne O’Garro, who will take us on a journey through mind body and soul. It is open to everyone and suitable to all levels and abilities.
Embodied Movement and Intention Setting Practice with Gabriella
Gabriella will guide your through a gentle embodied movement practice to create a stronger connection between your body, your emotions and your mind. This will be followed by a guided visualisation and intention setting practice to inspire you to choose to challenge.
Restorative Yoga practice & Poetry reading with Yvonne
Restorative yoga is a deeply restful practice that requires stillness from you. When the body is relaxed, you feel rested which is likely to provide an increased sense of wellbeing. During the session, Yvonne will share some beautifully inspired poetry alongside guiding you into 4 or 5 postures, providing the body with a total sense of ease, supporting you to choose to challenge.

International Women’s Day 2021: Women, Power, and Nature
Dates: Monday 8th March 11am – 12.15pm GMT
What you get: Kent Wildlife Trust’s Head of Advocacy, Julia Hunt, will be joined by our two distinguished key speakers in discussion around women, nature, and power.
This discussion will look at two main points around gender and nature:
1) What benefits can access to nature bring to women, and what barriers can prevent them from accessing those benefits?
2) As more women in the UK reach positions of power, whether through the greater control of wealth, or as more women gain seats in government and other decision-making bodies, will we see a change in our societal attitudes and investments in nature?
Chair:
Julia Hunt is the Head of Advocacy at Kent Wildlife Trust. Julia works with councillors, MPs, and community decision-makers to press for the best possible outcomes for wild spaces and the wildlife that lives there at a local, regional and national scale.
Key Speakers:
Tracey Crouch is the Conservative MP for Aylesford and Chatham and former Minister for Sport, Civil Society and Loneliness, as well as being a member of the Animal Welfare, Mindfulness, and Wellbeing Economics All-Party Parliamentary Groups.
Isabel Hardman is Assistant Editor of The Spectator and presenter of Radio 4’s The Week in Westminster. Her book, the Natural Health Service: How Nature Can Mend Your Mind, looks at the way the outdoors can help manage mental illnesses and improve people’s mental health.
