There are many spa and wellness hotels in Bali to choose from but none are as hip and cool as the Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach.

The hotel is part of the IHG chain and they really shine when it comes to hospitality. The exclusive Hotel Indigo boutique brand is known for creating inclusive environments and flexible spaces buzzing with the neighbourhood’s spirit – each designed to uniquely reflect the local culture, character, and history of the surrounding area, and celebrating the tastes and traditions of the communities they’re a part of and working to make a positive impact on them in return.

When arriving, the first thing that strikes you is the impressive and creative architecture. The lobby area is more like an open-air art gallery, fashionably designed and filled with an eclectic mix of colourful trinkets, carvings, artefacts and artwork, fusing Eastern and Western cultures along with traditional Balinese elements.

This style continues throughout the hotel, carrying with it the feeling of spaciousness and expansiveness. From the lobby you can see views straight across to the beach.

Where the Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach really shines is for their hospitality, service quality and delivery. The service was top notch and all the staff were super friendly. They get everything righ.

They have clearly hired from the best in Bali and it shows. The staff are also highly conscious of feedback and personal preferences, a key differentiator between excellent and best.

What we really loved about this particular Indigo hotel is that it really does cater to all types of clientele and suits all moods – providing the perfect atmosphere to relax, party and ‘be well’ all at the same time. The hotel offers an entire experience rather than just an overnight stay. It’s the perfect escape for solo travellers, couples and families alike.

Beachfront vibes on Double Six

The location ticked all our boxes, benefiting from being directly on Double six beach but also close to the main hub of Seminyak where you can walk everywhere easily, yet being somewhat hidden from the strip (and therefore not suffering from ‘nightlife’ noise pollution).

The gated entrance to the hotel gardens is just a few metres from the beachfront, meaning that you can step from the hustle and bustle of the beach into the sanctuary of the perfectly manicured gardens and the fabulous pools in just a few steps.

The beach itself is more of a surfing beach during the daytime and we chose to hangout by the main pool (which was large enough for doing laps) and has plenty of beds and cabanas to hide away in.

Villas with your own private pool and butler

In total there are 289 rooms, suites and villas of varying categories ranging from a standard room to a two bedroom pool villas, each one is beautifully-crafted and inspired by the colourful lives of the locals whilst fitted with Hotel Indigo signature spa-inspired bathrooms, plush bedding, and balcony or patio with daybeds.

For complete privacy and luxury, we opted for a pool villa. All pool villas come with a butler and buggy service. The pool villa we stayed in was more like a royal Balinese home, beautifully furnished and immaculately presented, super cosy with a lounge area, walk-in closet and dressing area, and a well stocked mini bar and Nespresso machine.

The spa-inspired bathroom was absolutely stunning (apparently inspired by the Balinese philosophy of Tri Hita Karana, of being one with the Gods, living beings and the earth!).

Some of the best dining in Bali – without even leaving the hotel!

For dining you are really spoilt for choice – choose from a casual beach atmosphere, poolside snacks at Cave pool bar, a ‘liquid’ lunch at Tree Bar, coffee & cake at Pottery, a formal fine dining experience at Salon Bali, Indonesian classics at Makase or an in-room affair. Based on your reservation, villa guest can also opt in for a floating breakfast.

Our favourite was SugarSand, the beach cafe where we found a nice chilled vibe, good food, wine and cocktails and also the choice of an a la Carte menu at breakfast (or an early brunch for the late sleepers) for pool villa guests – serving fresh and delicious croissants, and a great selection of delicious, healthy and hearty dishes to give you a morning boost and keep you going until lunch time.

Save yourself for the Sava Spa post gym workout

The gym was excellent and one of the best we had seen in a hotel in Bali, with a kinesthetic machine, plenty of weights, mats and fitness equipment, and if you don’t feel self motivated to do your own workout, there’s a couple of classes on the schedule too, including yoga and pool games.

Post workout, an incredible Balinese massage at the Sava Spa soothed our tired, aching muscles. There are so many amazing treatments on the menu and there’s even a dedicated reflexology room.

If you have half a day to spare then we highly recommend going for one of the half day retreat packages.

Having stayed at several spa hotels in Seminyak, the Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach is by far the best all round luxury 5 star spa hotel in Bali, ticking every box in terms of high standards and service across all areas.
