Es Cucons Ibiza

When someone opens up their lovingly restored home, built brick by brick by the family, you can feel the heart and soul that went into it. This gorgeous boutique hotel has been transformed from a farmhouse that was bought 1652, and it still maintains that rustic Ibiza style vibe.

Es Cucons is one of those typically Ibiza, ‘’in the middle of nowhere, remote and off the beaten path’’ places, down narrow country windy lanes – where peace and quiet lives, where you can’t help but slow down the body and the mind.

The objective at Es Cucons was to create a special place, where couples, friends, and families, can be in a relaxing atmosphere, enjoy healthy food cuisine, spa therapies, art and designs in the magical valley of Santa Agnès. Owned and run by two Spanish sisters (Maria and Barbara Rodrigues), the staff have become like family and go out of their way to ensure that every guest feels at home and is well and truly looked after.

You will feel better just by being immersed in the surrounding nature. Spend your days relaxing around the pool, sat reading a book in the pretty gardens adorned with wild flowers, flora and herbs, or amongst the almond and olive groves. You will find little touches of bohemian love and attention to details everywhere.

The food is exceptional, fresh, organic and locally sourced produce. The breakfast is delicious with lots of homemade delights and the lunch and dinner menus are extensive and cater to all dietary requirements.

There are just 15 rooms, seven double rooms and eight suites, all tastefully decorated with a unique and personal touch and each has either a terrace, balcony or garden. One of the guest rooms called the country cabin has stunning views over the valley and has its own sauna, outdoor shower and a large, private sunbathing area with a chill-out bed and sunbeds.

Separate from the other rooms and suites to offer total privacy, the holiday cabin is designed with couples who are looking for something special and memorable in mind. Overlooking the valley, it is equipped with a sauna,

There’s also the country cabin, a stand alone suite set in a discreet and private location by the the spa, where you can fully embrace your connection with nature.

The serene little spa is tucked into the almond grove below, with a wooden deck for yoga and Pilates, a treatment room and sauna with glass doors looking on to the valley, a pocket-size hot tub and plunge pool.

In house retreats are offered from 3-4 nights. Great if you don’t want to join a group retreat and you are wanting time out from everything and everyone and want to give yourself some well deserved TLC with massages, therapies and daily yoga or pilates classes. The onsite yoga teacher and massage therapist Melanie Jane develops bespoke wellness programme for each guest.

If you want a more holistic journey, go for the Ayurvedic Ritual Getaway which includes daily yoga and three different ayurvedic rituals. They also host yoga retreats throughout the year with international guest teachers. See here for their calendar of upcoming retreats.

You will need a car when staying at Es Cucons and to explore the wonderful Island. The nearest beach (one of the nicest beaches on the island) is Cala Salada and is a 10 minute drive away.

Es Cucons goes down as one on our favourite hidden gems of Ibiza. Double rooms at Es Cucons cost from €325 bed and breakfast. Read the raving customer feedback on Tripadvisor. Book here.
