I spent two relaxing nights at the five star boutique hotel Dupond Smith, the most petite hotel I have ever stayed in – with only 8 rooms! It’s the epitome of boutique and a luxurious secret hideaway where one can remain truly incognito in the French capital. As they say the best things come in small packages.
Located in the heart of the Marais in a 17th century five story mansion.  The eight rooms are all named after pseudonyms and aliases of illustrious figures and celebrities – Lord R’Hoone, Monsieur Mojo Risin, Alan Smithee, Joseph L’Estrange, Clara Gazul, Saint Leger Leger, James Jewel and John Doe.
I watched the world go by from the balcony looking over the streets of the Marais and then retreated in the cozy and luxurious surroundings of my spacious boudoir. There’s enough room to roll out my yoga mat and turn it into a make shift yoga studio whilst I do my daily practice. After practice, I couldn’t resist having a bubble bath in the glorious bathtub!
The bathroom is designed exquisitely and like a spa in itself, with a rainfall shower and Maison Martin Margiela bathrobes and slippers to relax in with my cup of herbal tea from the cute tea box.
The Dupond Smith is another hotel designed by the dynamic designer duo Anne Peyroux and Emmanuèle Thisy who worked on other boutique hotel projects including the Chess Hotel, Hotel Chavanel and Hotel de Seze. Philippe Starck, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, and Verner Panton have also worked their magic on the design and furnishings giving each of the individually designed rooms a unique twist.
The Marais has a medieval village feeling with cute boutiques and cafes. The hotel staff are exceptionally helpful and went out in the morning especially to get me a healthy vegan breakfast, not your typical sweet toothed French breakfast of pastries!
The Dupond Smith is a superb hotel for the solo traveller who wants to explore one of the loveliest parts of Paris and return to the peace and quiet of their room.
