adiwana resort Ubud

Tucked away down a quiet street in Ubud I first came across the Adiwana retreat through its Herb Library restaurant – which serves organic, healthy and vegetarian and vegan cuisine with a ‘slow food’ concept. It’s one of those places that you feel drawn to when you walk past it as it’s set in a beautifully decorated bamboo house, with a predominately green and yellow colour scheme that gives it an earthy garden style setting.

adiwana resort Ubud

Adiwana is a small hotel chain offering boutique wellness experiences in luxurious settings. The Adiwana Jimbaran isn’t just a hotel with a spa, they’ve created high end and customised wellness retreats in yoga, stress release, Ayurveda, meditation, therapies and massages.

The set up of the resort offers all the comfort and luxuries of a four star hotel comforts is well suited to solo travellers who are looking for a personalised retreat yet still want to explore Ubud and have privacy when in the peaceful grounds, where you can relax by one of the two pools or take a treatment in the spa.

With its team of onsite experts, including an Ayurvedic doctor and yoga instructor, the resort offers lifestyle programs that are tailored to address any specific health concerns you may have.

Spa

Tejas Spa at Adiwana Resort Jembawan has been inspired by the holistic teachings of Ayurveda, which is the world’s oldest healing system originating in India. This timeless concept is evident in the spa’s therapeutic menu where great emphasis is placed on balancing all areas of life and helping the body call upon its energy to heal.

The treatments are personalised by identifying an individual’s Dosha which denotes one’s constitution, whether it is Vatta, Pitta or Kapha or a combination of these. The system of Ayurvedic massage focuses on “opening “ the knotted nerves or blockages in one’s body to refresh, enliven, and energise the body, using a selection of specially prepared Ayurvedic massage oil.

The Tejas Spa name is inspired by the Sanskrit word meaning inner beauty or inner power and your five senses. Each Tejas Spa treatment uses the therapeutic properties of natural local ingredients and the healing practices of the area.

An Indian doctor presides over this unique wellness facility to conduct pre-treatment consultations and suggest integrated health program.

The spa is excellent. We experienced the ”four hands” treatment with two therapists who simultaneously massaged our bodies and this was one of the most incredible treatments we had ever had. It’s not only massage or treatment, but it is a wonderful ritual.

You can find their full list of treatments on their menu here.

Retreats

Adiwana offers eights different types of retreats. We experienced their 5 Day Rejuvenation & Yoga Retreat. All retreats start with a wellness consultation with the Ayurvedic Practitioner to diagnose your Dosha (Pita, Kapha,Vata) and meals and spa treatments will be recommended that are based upon this diagnosis of your constitution. You can also customise your own retreat package based on your personal needs both as an individual or part of a group.
