yoga retreat review

Winter in Majorca is the ideal time to discover the Island’s natural beauty. In February I was invited to attend a 7 day yoga retreat hosted by Breathspiration in a rural hotel only 40 minutes away from the city of Palma.  A great city to visit all year round, Palma was voted by the Sunday Times as the 2nd best city in the world to live in.

The first thing I noticed was how absolutely gorgeous the grounds and views were, being completely surrounded by nature. On the first night during an outdoor yoga class by the pool, we watched the sun set over the picturesque landscape.

Although not normally used as a retreat space the rustic finca provided a comfy stay in a luxurious setting with on site restaurant, swimming pool (more for photogenic purposes in the winter time) with a homely feel to the bedrooms. I discovered a magical cactus garden whilst walking around the the grounds which was quite spectacular.

I was here for the rest, relaxation and yoga of course. Every morning started with quite a vigorous practice, taught by the lovely Ariana. The classes were suitable for all levels and as we were only a small groups there were lots of hands on adjustments.

As the temperature was mild it was perfect for exploring the local countryside by bike and foot. The hotel is located close to the most beautiful beaches in Mallorca, and we spent an afternoon walking along the coastline of in the sunshine. There was plenty of free time to rest or be active or indulge in the wonderful therapeutic massages that Ariana gave.

The retreat offered the perfect winter break and a health boost, space to reflect and coaching sessions with Andrea to help me revaluate my personal and business goals. I left feeling revitalized, refreshed and relaxed, so much so that I decided to stay longer in Majorca and headed back to Palma!
